Job Summary

SUMMARY

Assist in the administration of the Districts business affairs to maximize services for the financial resources available and contribute to positive staff relations through the prompt accurate and confidential handling of payroll benefits and related financial matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  1. Manage the District timekeeping system and process all bi-weekly payrolls including deductions for taxes retirement garnishments annuities health insurance and other authorized deductions.
  2. Prepare verify and maintain records of payroll deductions and disbursement of deduction payments.
  3. Verify payroll amounts and balances before and after electronic processing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  4. Maintain complete accurate and systematic payroll records and documentation for all District payroll transactions.
  5. Process payroll documentation for new hires employee changes and terminations.
  6. Maintain employee payroll deduction files benefits information and required payroll reports.
  7. Submit medical insurance enrollment and related benefit forms to appropriate agencies and providers.
  8. Calculate employee contract balances and related payroll information.
  9. Process annuity agreements and other voluntary payroll deductions.
  10. Prepare payroll transfers and make necessary adjustments to budget and account codes.
  11. Serve as a fiduciary representative and authorized check signer as assigned.
  12. Operate computerized payroll systems spreadsheets word processing software and standard office equipment.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll benefits and financial information.
  14. Assist employees with payroll and benefits questions in a professional and timely manner.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Associate degree or equivalent training in accounting bookkeeping finance or a related field preferred.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years of bookkeeping payroll or accounting experience required.
  4. Knowledge of payroll procedures tax laws deductions and financial recordkeeping practices.
  5. Experience with computerized payroll systems data entry spreadsheets and word processing software required.
  6. Ability to maintain accurate records and perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  8. Strong organizational communication and customer service skills.

Director of Finance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The position requires the ability to meet multiple demands from several people and interact effectively with staff vendors and the public. Duties are primarily performed in an office environment and may require prolonged sitting standing walking bending reaching and use of standard office equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Twelve-month work year. Salary and benefits as established by the Governing Board.
