Position Overview
Essential Functions
- Formulates and recommends policy rules to the Deputy Director and Assistant Deputy Director of the Office of Trade and Investment (OTI) to help Illinois small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) increase their exports through the Illinois State Trade Export Promotion (ISTEP) program.
- Collaborates OTI staff with trade program recruitment and overall program coverage.
- Collaborates with the fiscal team on processing ISTEP company reimbursements to assure that all guidelines outlined by the U.S. Small Business Administration and Office of International Trade are met.
- May be required to report Travels to the Chicago and/or Springfield office for meetings with OTI staff on the STEP program being implemented and managed.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Specialized Skills
- Requires two (2) years or more experience of advance level client database management.
- Requires two (2) years or more experience developing and delivering written media such as briefs memoranda summarizations research reports or regulations bulletins.
- Requires two (2) years or more experience in grant administration or grant monitoring of federal state and/or local grants.
- Requires advanced level experience in the utilization of spreadsheet software document creation email and cloud-based platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers two (2) years or more experience of advance level client database management.
- Prefers two (2) years or more experience developing and delivering written media such as briefs memoranda summarizations research reports or regulations bulletins.
- Requires two (2) years or more experience in grant administration or grant monitoring of federal state and/or local grants.
- Prefers advanced level experience in the utilization of spreadsheet software document creation. email and cloud-based platforms.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Overtime may be required from time to time to accommodate international time differences or participate in events outside of normal working hours.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate valid drivers license.
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public.
