Job Summary

Works in the Emissions Monitoring Projects Group (EMP). Performs duties that provide various clients with regulatory compliance services associated with LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair).

Essential Functions

  • Perform Method 21 cooling tower monitoring canister inspections and other testing at the site
  • Perform precision calibrations tests and use a toxic vapor analyzer (TVA2020) to record emissions data associated with various process equipment (valves pumps compressors flanges piping connections etc.)
  • Perform Monitoring troubleshooting calibration and drift assessments of TVA (entering data into handheld & in calibration book)
  • Perform 1st attempt at repair activities at customer work sites required to comply with Federal State and/or local fugitive air emission regulations.
  • Monitor components perform valve tags inventory maintenance and set up LDAR programs.
  • Report Audio Visual Olfactory (AVO) Note Plug (NP) & Open-Ended Line (OEL) to Site Supervisor (SS) and Operations
  • Note Missing Tags (MT) on a handheld device and/or report a large number of Missing Tags (MT) to the Site Supervisor (SS)
  • Report new or removed components to Site Supervisor (SS)
  • Visually inspect sewers drains etc. for faults that would allow vapors to escape
  • Perform safety inspections equipment audits etc.; regularly monitor the working integrity of various tools such as company vehicles calibration gases 4-gas monitors harnesses personal protective equipment etc.
  • Review Pipe and Industry Diagrams (P&IDs) for changes or possible required corrections and updates
  • Complete daily paperwork (job summary change forms retire forms walk-down forms leak sheets blue tags etc.) using a smartphone or company computer; fill out permits/paperwork makes copies of various forms; deliver correspondence to clients and/or coworkers as appropriate; maintain all regulatory compliance paperwork for audits
  • Mobilize and load up equipment for specific job assignments for the week; perform in-shop maintenance activities; maintain cleanliness of company property including office vehicle and other work areas.
  • Attend safety training and incorporate safety into all job performance areas; complete onsite and internal training prior to entering and beginning work at sites as applicable
  • Demobilize and clean equipment used on projects for each week
  • Perform On the Job Training (OJT) for AEM Technical Specialists I
  • Perform other administrative duties such as submitting receipts doing timesheets and looking at methods.
  • Aid other Specialists as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • No supervisory responsibilities; may provide guidance to other employees/individuals

Required Qualifications

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENT High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
  • Minimum of 12 to 24 months of experience as an AEM Technical Specialist I
  • Must pass M21 Testing Requirements and remain current in M21 annual testing and safety training
  • Complete the Transportation Working Identification Credential (TWIC) program followed by verification via a TWIC card

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Mechanical and hand tool knowledge; basic electrical/mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of federal regulations
  • Understanding of natural gas processing facilities and procedures
  • Ability to read Piping and Industrial Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Ability to work in physically demanding field conditions; physical endurance
  • Professional attitude and ability to learn
  • Ability to perform effectively at heights; ability to operate lifts/sky jakes and other large equipment
  • Awareness of personal and industrial safety requirements particularly in relation to signs of heat stress exhaustion and emergency first aid
  • Valid drivers license; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with Company policy
  • Ability to communicate with associates and customers
  • Ability to read count and write to accurately complete all documentation

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee travels extensively to industrial work sites and performs testing in hazardous or extreme working conditions. This position may involve working at extreme heights and may involve intense levels of emotional stress.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Outdoor work in petroleum refinery or chemical processing facility walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Adverse weather conditions (extreme hot/cold and inclement weather)
  • Specialist will carry a testing device data logger hand tools and miscellaneous equipment that weigh approximately 15-25 lbs. The testing devices are carried in a backpack.
  • The work involves ascending stairs climbing vertical ladders and working from elevated heights heights may exceed 300 feet (wearing personal fall protection when required) with equipment described above.
  • All outdoor work is performed wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes but is not limited to a hardhat fire retardant coveralls safety glasses hearing protection safety boots and a 5-point safety harness (when required).

Travel

(80-100%). Travels to and from various gas processing facilities. Depending on the assignment and the remoteness of the site may require travel on weekends.
