We are seeking an Education Law Associate Attorney to join our growing and highly respected practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney who wants to build a rewarding career representing school districts BOCES and employers on a wide variety of legal matters affecting education employment governance compliance labor relations student affairs and school operations.
In this role you will work directly with clients providing practical legal advice and representation on matters that shape educational environments and workplace success. You will gain hands-on experience across multiple practice areas while collaborating with experienced attorneys in a supportive team-oriented environment dedicated to professional growth and client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal counsel and guidance to school districts BOCES and employer clients on a broad range of legal matters.
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda opinions policies and other legal documents.
Draft review and negotiate contracts agreements and other transactional documents.
Advise clients on employment matters labor relations personnel issues and workplace compliance.
Counsel clients on student-related matters educational policies and regulatory requirements.
Represent clients in administrative proceedings state and federal hearings and other legal matters as needed.
Assist with school construction and capital project matters.
Provide guidance on governance policy development and operational issues affecting educational institutions.
Communicate directly with clients and develop trusted advisor relationships.
Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the New York State Bar.
Experience or background in Education Law.
Strong legal research writing and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to effectively advocate for and counsel clients.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented practice.
