Job Summary
Under the direction of the CTE office provide leadership and daily support to students school-based staff and community stakeholders through the coordination of work-based learning (WBL) for an assigned group of schools.Provide instructional and leadership services that prepare students with the related academic critical thinking computer technology workplace readiness and technical skills essential to pursuing career pathways in career research and development. Coordinate students in work-based learning experiences including internships apprenticeships and capstones. Provide daily support to teachers and staff assists with professional development activities and monitor data student engagement equity and access. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and program management at the high school level in areas of career development work-based learning and related instruction.
- Implement seminar sessions covering workplace readiness and career development topics for all students in assigned WBL cohort which include critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for current and future industry employment standards.
- Provide instruction in teamwork communications problem solving decision making and computer technology which relate to the workplace and higher education skills needed in business and industry.
- Collaborate with staff and postsecondary institutions to develop and maintain career pathways which prepare students for apprenticeship community college or university degree programs.
- Prepare instructional materials maintain equipment and manage materials of instruction which maximize the resources needed to deliver a diverse instructional program.
- Understand and effectively relate to and teach high school students as they become productive young adults and members of the community.
- Contribute to the mission of the school by supporting progress toward attainment of school improvement plan and career completer goals.
- Partner with employers and community groups to promote and advance technical and employability skills.
- Participate in recruitment and selection of students for work-based learning.
- Attend monthly WBL meetings. Coordinate extended year WBL for students during the summer.
- Create an instructional environment that is conducive to the intellectual physical social and emotional development of students.
- Communicate standards achievements and deficiencies to students and parents. Meet with students and parents.
- Maintain complete and accurate student academic attendance and disciplinary records. Monitor and assess students academic progress.
- Collaborate with school administrators other teachers paraeducators parents and community members in the education of students.
- Maintain accurate records for student work-based learning according to Risk Management procedures child labor and employment of minors law and Blueprint data collection requirements.
- Monitor students at their work-based learning sites to assess their skill development provide support track appropriateness of workplace conditions and monitor suitability of placements.
- Conduct in-person site visits to students at their work site at a minimum twice per month.
- Complete and submit monthly and quarterly reports pertaining to career development projects and work-based learning.
- Establish relationships with business local workforce navigators and higher education partners for the purpose of providing work-based learning experiences registered youth apprenticeships and program support.
- Monitor and assist in the maintenance of required documentation for registered youth apprenticeships and work-based learning experiences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in an applicable field. Three years of successful teaching experience in a related area to the position duties.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.
OR
Possession of or eligibility for a Maryland Educator Professional License appropriate to the area of assignment.
Possession of or eligibility for Work-Based Learning endorsement is required.
Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate or Advanced Professional License is preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy for work-based learning.
Knowledge of curriculum.
Knowledge of effective instructional techniques.
Knowledge of instructional materials and equipment.
Knowledge of CTE programs articulations and certifications.
Knowledge of current issues and trends in work-based learning.
Skill in instructing students.
Skill in preparing and implementing lesson plans.
Skill in the use of data analysis professional learning communities instructional leadership and spreadsheet word processing and related applications.
Skill in communicating with students their parents administrators and others.
Coursework and/or experience which supports knowledge of curriculum development and supervision.
Demonstrated expertise in career development and work-based learning.
Technology competency: knowledge of and skill in the use of database internet spreadsheet word processing and related applications.
Outstanding communication leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to implement and model effective instructional strategies in the classroom.
Ability to establish a schedule to ensure all WBL students at assigned locations are visited and provided with instruction as required under WBL procedures.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
WBL Coordinator will be assigned a region in which to visit schools and students. Work requires travel to schools and work sites and documentation of daily activity.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Requires attendance at after-school and evening meetings and events.
GRADE:
10 - Month Pay Scale - Valid until January 2026 -10 - Month Pay Scale - Effective January 1 2026
