Working under the general supervision of the Department Chair the Philosophy Administrative Support Coordinator is responsible for a variety of complex administrative and specialized office functions to support the Philosophy include but are not limited to class scheduling tracking financial transactions reconciling budgets organizing documentation and committees for candidates for retention promotion and tenure personnel processes including recruitment and payroll and other specialized projects. This position requires a detailed understanding of numerous policies and procedures within the College and University.
This position is paid under the 11/12 pay plan where salary for 11 months is distributed over 12 months with JULY off (with pay benefits and vacation/sick leave accrual continuing through months off). This position is eligible for full benefits including medical dental vision and CalPERS retirement.

The Philosophy Department in the College of Liberal Arts is a major academic unit including nearly 20 tenure-track faculty and 20 lecturers two degree programs and three minors. The programs include approximately 130 undergraduate majors in the Philosophy BA on the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus and approximately 65 undergraduates in the International Strategy and Security (ISS) on the Cal Poly Solano campus. The department also houses the minors for Philosophy Religious Studies and ISS and offers many General Education courses.

Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology systems and software packages.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to establish multiple priorities. Ability to independently coordinate and plan for overlapping assignments while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to independently interpret communicate and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures including in situations where specific guidelines may not exist.
Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
Ability to perform standard business math and track financial data to monitor department expenditures and budgets.

Four years of general office support or technical experience. (Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience).

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3710 - $4347 per month
This position is paid under the 11/12 pay plan where the salary for 11 months is distributed over 12 months. The salary will be received every month. The incumbent will have one month off every year (with pay benefits and vacation/sick leave accrual continuing through the month off). The one month off will be July.
Classification Range:$3710 - $5405 per month
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
