The Revenues Technical Manager is a pivotal role responsible for the operational leadership and effective management of the Councils Revenues Service focusing on Business Rates and Council Tax. This position ensures accurate billing collection and recovery of revenue aiming to maximize income while delivering a high-quality customer-focused service. The postholder will provide technical expertise oversee systems administration drive continuous service improvement and ensure compliance with legislative requirements while leading and developing a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Revenues Service ensuring efficient billing collection and recovery processes.
Maximize income collection across Business Rates and Council Tax.
Maintain and oversee the accuracy and integrity of Revenues databases in line with legislation and procedures.
Ensure all Government returns and statutory reports are completed accurately and within deadlines.
Manage annual billing cycles and end-of-year processes.
Essential Experience
Significant experience in Revenues including Business Rates and Council Tax.
Proven experience in a management or leadership role.
Demonstrable track record of achieving high collection rates and service performance targets.
Experience working with Revenues systems and multiple IT platforms.
Essential Qualifications
Educated to A-level standard or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Business Rates and Council Tax.
IRRV (Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation) qualification (essential).
Management qualification (desirable).
Strong understanding of Revenues legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Additional Information
Working hours: 30 hours per week.
Fully remote role.
We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
