Assitant Payroll Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

Our client is looking for an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to support payroll operations within a fast-paced and highly regulated environment. This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional with strong technical payroll expertise excellent reconciliation skills and a passion for accuracy compliance and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the end-to-end payroll process ensuring accurate and timely payroll execution.
  • Assist with payroll calculations reconciliations and monthly payroll reporting.
  • Maintain payroll accuracy through validating payroll input and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation internal controls and statutory requirements.
  • Assist with payroll audits and maintain strong governance standards.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Support payroll reporting employee benefits administration and payroll-related submissions.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee information.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements efficiencies and system optimisation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR Finance and operational stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll delivery
Job Experience and Skills required:

Qualifications:
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Degree in Finance Accounting Human Resources or related field
  • Professional payroll certification advantageous
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years payroll experience in a payroll management or support environment
  • Proven experience in high-volume payroll processing
  • Strong payroll reconciliation and payroll administration experience
  • Sound understanding of South African payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience with VIP Premier Sage 300 SAP or similar payroll systems advantageous
  • Previous exposure to employee benefits payroll reporting and payroll governance beneficial
