About the Role
We are seeking a commercially astute and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to oversee the financial and contractual aspects of our construction projects. The successful candidate will manage project lifecycles from initial cost estimation through to final accounts ensuring rigorous cost control materials efficiency and strict adherence to contract administration standards. The ideal candidate must possess a sharp eye for commercial variations and deep proficiency in local engineering measurement frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
BEME & BOQ Development: Develop highly accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) based on engineering designs and project specifications.
Commercial Claims & IPCs: Prepare review and process Interim Payment Certificates (IPC) and manage the timely submission of comprehensive final accounts.
Variation & Extra Works Tracking: Maintain a sharp eye for documenting "extra works" and site variations ensuring all deviations from original scope are meticulously captured to prevent revenue loss.
Site Measurement & Valuations: Conduct routine on-site measurements and objective valuations of completed works to support commercial transparency.
Financial Management & Budgeting: Continuously monitor project costs track budget variations and audit on-site material consumption patterns against budgeted targets to optimize cost efficiency.
Procurement & Contract Administration: Provide robust support in vendor procurement manage contract administration and ensure project operations align with established legal frameworks.
Subcontractor Management: Critically evaluate subcontractor claims verify progress on-site and certify fair and accurate subcontractor payments.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree (. / ) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or a related discipline.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven hands-on experience in construction cost management overseeing pre- and post-contract operations.
Proficiency in developing Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation and preparing Interim Payment Certificates (IPC).
Professional Affiliation: Professional membership with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is highly preferred.
Contractual Knowledge: Strong demonstrable working knowledge of FIDIC or similar standard forms of construction contracts.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in advanced MS Excel and industry-standard measurement/estimating software (e.g. PlanSwift QS CAD or Bluebeam).
Core Attributes: Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills high mathematical accuracy and a strong sense of commercial integrity.
