Senior Human Resources Generalist

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HR Generalist with Safety Responsibilities to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing human resources functions while also ensuring the implementation and compliance of safety protocols and regulations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Management:
  • Manage all aspects of HR operations including recruitment onboarding offboarding performance management employee relations and employee retention initiatives.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with company goals and legal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR related matters.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure HR practices comply with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Oversee payroll administration and benefits management.
  • Familiarity with HRIS software
Safety Management:
  • Develop implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Oversee that field risk assessments identifying potential hazards are completed and develop strategies to mitigate risks as required.
  • Lead or oversee safety training initiatives for employees and managers.
  • Investigate accidents incidents and nearmisses; analyze root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
Employee Development and Engagement:
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and opportunities for employee development.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive work culture and enhance employee satisfaction.
  • Implement strategies to recognize and reward employee performance and achievements.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Stay abreast of changes in employment laws regulations and industry trends; update policies and practices accordingly.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports related to HR and safety compliance via ComplyWorks and in accordance with the AB & BC requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to HR and safety activities to maintain corporate COR certification.
Qualifications:
  • Degree Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources
  • Education or knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety a definite asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in HR management with a focus on safety.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment laws regulations and safety standards.
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPHR CRSP)a definite asset.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful HR and safety initiatives.
  • Experience in the energy infrastructure or related industries is an asset.
