Job Description

We are seeking a Business Analyst for our Government Client who will be responsible for a full range of business analysis tasks including requirements analysis and validation and functional design aspects, developing user stories, participating in client workshops, utilising project toolsets such as Jira and Balsamiq and liaising with software developers, testers, vendors and clients. The Business Analyst will be part of a BA team integral to the development of a custom .NET Revenue Management System build including design, development, testing and implementation activities.

The suitable resource will be required to perform the services in Darwin as required by the projects activities and therefore must be based in Darwin.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake analysis of a revenue management business subject matter
  • Maintain a professional relationship with project resources, and the project customer
  • Participate in analysis and design related workshops to inform user story creation
  • Participate in other related workshops such as sprint planning and oversight
  • Developing user stories
  • Utilisation of project tool sets such as Onenote, SharePoint, MS Teams, Jira and Confluence
  • Work closely with other BA s and software developers to clarify requirements and design aspects
  • Work closely with the project customer to clarify requirements and design aspects
  • Testing involvement both informally and formally such as SIT and UAT
  • Development of test cases and execution of these
  • Contribute to the development and review of project documentation
  • Managing sensitive information and maintaining records in line with information management policies

Essential Skills and Experience

  • An understanding of As-Is and To-Be Business Process Mapping (including BPMN) concepts
  • Process design and re-engineering
  • Business impact and gap analysis
  • Workshop facilitation
  • Workflow automation
  • Work calmly in a sometimes ambiguous environment setting
  • High level analytical and organisational skills with good attention to detail and ability to think laterally and conceptually
  • Highly effective client liaison intrapersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in being able to provide a holistic, human centred approach to the design of digital products, defining their form, behaviour, and content, drawing on a range of skills encompassing user research; interface, interaction and information design; project and time management, technical writing and usability testing.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative environment with high performing teams with high priority deliverables under tight timeframes, and balancing competing priorities.
  • Hands on experience in the end to end delivery of major business systems projects
  • Highly skilled in the use of BA related tools such as MS Visio and Balsamiq
  • Experience identifying and analysing complex legislative and / or regulatory requirements applicable to the relevant industry/work environment and their processes

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • High level understanding of SQL
  • High level understanding of probability and statistics
  • SQL Entity Relationship models
  • Use of Power BI data visualisation; python optional
  • Data analysis techniques

  • High level social and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders, including ability to translate complex analytical and technical information into clear and meaningful terms.
