Job Title: RF Test Engineer (Hybrid)
- Location: Lexington MA (34 days/week onsite)
- Job Type: W2 Contract
Background/Need
The hiring group conducts regular field tests locally as well as at various test ranges. The group also maintains complex systems integration labs that involve sensitive hardware and software systems. A team of test engineers is needed to design and execute tests as well as maintain test equipment.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
The Embedded and Open Systems group regularly conducts lab and field tests involving complex sensor and processing hardware. These systems are often installed on aircraft or other mobile ground platforms. The team needs a Test and Integration Engineer with experience in developing test plans integrating hardware systems troubleshooting and problemsolving in a dynamic team environment.
Must Have:
- Experience with test planning and execution for field experiments involving complexity: e.g. mobile platforms RF systems networks and compute infrastructure.
- Experience with softwarebased test automation and scripting of test execution data capture and analysis.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as bash shell and build systems such as CMake.
- Experience with electrical electronic high power rf systems and workspace safety procedures including job safety supervision .
- Experience with configuring and integrating navigation systems (INS GPS).
- Familiarity with RF spectrum and basic propagation theory (waveforms bandwidth freq standards freq allocation).
- Familiarity with radar/communications theory (power crosssection timing waveforms spectrum detection).
- Experience developing specifications for parts/subsystems for test infrastructure (examples: Enclosure design including power systems cooling I/O switches and simple digital interfaces; racklevel support systems including switches routers KVMs monitors and keyboards; Componentlevel RF design including attenuators splitters combiners and circulators).
- Experience determining SWAP power distribution heat/cooling requirements for systems under test.
- Ability to create presentation material and brief as necessary.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with flight test planning (air traffic control restricted areas radio comms pilotspeak).
- Has or can obtain a Class III flight physical and AF Physiological training.
- Experience with DoD security and classification issues related to experimentation and computing environments.
- Experience with cryptographic and keyloading systems.
- UAS operation and control.
- Familiarity with common test equipment (e.g. oscope spectrum analyzer signal sources power supplies etc).
- Familiarity with some trades/shopwork (wiring metal fab soldering assembly).
Education & Experience: Bachelors plus 5 Years of relevant work experience.
Work Authorization: US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
