• Understand and adhere to performance standards policies and behaviors.
• Utilize the nursing process to address agespecific patient needs in all facets of care: biophysical psychosocial education safety/environment and discharge planning.
• Apply appropriate decisionmaking steps recognizing and prioritizing patient care and unitbased issues taking action as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into daily work practices.
• Adhere to infection control standards minimizing the risk of nosocomial infections for patients and staff.
• Uphold the tenets of the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
• Delegate activities to ancillary staff following the State Nurse Practice Act.
• Abide by the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics & Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Support promote and practice within the Professional Nursing Practice Model.
• Contribute to sustaining and advancing the Magnet model.
• Actively participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Fulfill competency requirements and attend mandatory inservices.
• Attend staff meetings as required/requested.
• Utilize cost containment practices.
• Assume Charge Nurse responsibility as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York registration.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN) required for all external RNs hired on or after January 1st 2018.
• RNs hired between January 1st 2016 and January 1st 2018 must have a minimum of a BSN or show evidence of enrollment and completion of BSN by January 1st 2020.
• RNs hired before January 1st 2016 must have a BSN by January 1st 2022.
• Knowledge of current nursing medical and health trends and practices in patient care.
• One year of acute care nursing experience preferred (excluding medical surgical or stepdown).
• BLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required.
• ACLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required for all RNs as of January 1st 2017 (except NICU and OR RNs).
• PALS certification (through American Heart Association) is required for specified units; must be obtained within 612 months of hire.
• NRP certification is required for specified units; must be obtained within 6 months for newly hired nurses.
