(Plastics) Mold Manager

Fully conversant and experiencedwith; preparing molds, injection molding experience, installing molds into injection mold machines, hooking up molds to equipment hydraulics, electrical and recirculating water lines, loading material, starting machine for warm up and initial testing, adjusting the machine for proper pressure, material heat, clamping pressure, screw speed, and any and all other molding parameters, adjusting machine parameters for optimum part dimensions and cycle times.

• Understanding of how to hook up and adjust mold water heaters (commonly referred to as thermolators)
  
• Competent in replacement of injection mold machine screw, hydraulic and water hoses.
  
• Basicmold and injection mold machine maintenance and preventive maintenance a must.
  
• Capable of transferring controller knowledge to machine brands that they may not be familiar with. For example, our equipment consists of VanDorn, Kraus Maffei and Nisseibrand injection mold machines. Each has a different type of controller (computer control) but all do the same thing. The candidate may not be familiar with our equipment, but they must be able to transfer their knowledge of other brand equipment in order to learn the controller procedures on our brand of equipment. Understanding and experience with our brand equipment a plus.
  
• Fully understand how to measure parts with hand-held tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges and the like and experience reading detailed prints with tolerance information.
  
• Must be able to log on and manipulate a computer through basic functions at a minimum.
  
• Supervision of other employees is a plus, but must be able to learn and provide directions to others at a minimum.
  

Daily responsibilities;

• Check schedule, load mold in available machine.
  
• Start up and mold parts to print. Train operator how to attend machine, for example, how to process part after molding (trimming, inspecting, degating, etc.).
  
• Periodically evaluate operator performance and quality of part.
  
• Remove mold from another machine that has finished, prepare mold for storage, load new mold, etc.
  
• Interface with production manager, providing assistance regarding meeting production demand, scheduling personnel, interviewing incoming employees, etc.

California based manufacturer that specializes in molding of several grades of alumina and zirconia materials, primarily ceramic injection molding. Client is looking for a Production Manager and Mold Manager with a broad knowledge of manufacturing and an understanding of super tight tolerance production. This person would need to have a background in machining and injection molding. Industry specification is not as much of a focus.
