Job Description:
  • Functions as a member of the clinical patient care team performing tasks and procedures consistent with the training and licensure of a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist
  • Experience practicing Radiation Oncology with a strong record (or an excellent recent graduate)
  • Demonstrated practicebuilding experience is preferred
  • Practice Setting: Outpatient at FreeStanding Cancer Center
  • Reason for coverage: Physician retirement/relocations
  • Most benign Hematology is referred out as we are focusing on getting new solid tumor diagnosis seen timely (within 1 week of referral).
  • Demographics for this area are roughly 20% Hematology 80% Oncology.
  • Number of Physicians in Practice: 3 currently
  • Will There be Radiation Oncologists Present Yes
  • How Many APPs Provide Coverage: 2 currently
  • Average Number of Patients Per Day OUTPATIENT (Clinic/Office): 1015
  • Average Number of Patients Per Day HOSPITAL (Call/Rounding): Only when patients are admitted for inpatient chemo
  • Trauma Level/Designation (Hospital): III
  • Required Duties: participation on a Tumor Board orders tests orders images prescribes
  • Administration of Chemotherapy: by Physician
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Maintains regular consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exercises good judgment demonstrates effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Flexible able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently

  • Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
    • Able to stand walk bend squat reach and stretch frequently
    • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
    • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity including adequate color vision
    • Requires fine motor skills adequate eyehand coordination and ability to grasp and handle objects
    • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating transferring in and out of bed chair or wheelchair
    • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
    • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading writing and speaking in person or on telephone
  • Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 68 weeks

    Requirement description :

    • Board Certified or Board Eligible (within the past 2 years) in Medical Oncology REQUIRED
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible (within the past 2 years) in Hematology REQUIRED
    • OR license (or willing to obtain) REQUIRED
    • State any experience practicing Radiation Oncology (add to Experience field) REQUIRED
    • State any experience in building a practice (add to Experience field) REQUIRED
    • BLS (prior to start) REQUIRED
