  • Payroll tax accounting knowledge, required.
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills, required

Knowledge of payroll withholding tax and the affects that overpayments have when crossing tax years, preferred

Workday Payroll system experience is preferred, but not required, if individual has ability to quickly learn Workday payroll application based on previous experience using other payroll application

List typical procedures performed on unit(s): The Tax and Wage Assignment Specialist manages the preparation and distribution of multiple organization hourly and salaried payrolls for multiple locations. The Specialist oversees the maintenance of earnings and deduction records and ensures that all federal, state, and local taxes, Social Security contributions, contributions to coworker benefit programs, and other deductions, are withheld from individual paychecks. The Tax and Wage Assignment Specialist serves as liaison with other departments and locations in the resolution of payroll problems and recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll function.

  • Collaboration
    Collaborates with Payroll staff to maintain processing schedule 5%
  • Withholdings
    May submit payroll withholdings to external entities, for items such as garnishments, child support, etc. 5%
  • Research
    Research data and calculates retroactive pay W-2's 35%
  • Processes W-2s
    Payroll Services Ensures that select payroll services are provided accurately and timely for pay groups within the enterprise 45%
  • Resource
    Serves as a resource to management staff and Finance within FA 5%
  • Inquiries
    Answers inquiries and facilitates timely resolution of pay issues and questions 5%
