Job Description

Legal
  • Responsible for overall supervision and advice of legal with securities laws regulations and guidelines and any other applicable law governing the regulated activities in Malaysia including REIT and nonREIT entities
  • Drafting reviewing vetting and preparation of Contracts Legal Documentations Legal Correspondences and Agreements
  • Advise on trademark dispute resolution arbitration employment and industrial relations
  • Develop compliance framework policies and procedures on Corporate Governance and business related issues.
  • Liaise with Solicitors or Authorities with regards to all legal matters
  • Responsible to design and monitoring control systems to deal with violations of legal rules and internal policies and regularly assess the efficiency of control systems and recommend effective improvements.
  • Attend to and solve any legal risk and compliance issues that may arise from time to time
  • Ensure that all legal risk and compliance obligations pertaining to the real estate investment trust and manager of the trust are met at all times.
  • Update and disseminate updates and information required to management in order for the real estate investment trust and manager of the trust to remain compliant with the laws and regulations.
  • Lead employee training sessions on legal issues.
  • Handle legalrelated corporate matters & undertake adhoc projects & duties assigned
Compliance
  • Responsible to support the compliance with securities laws regulations and guidelines and any other applicable law governing the regulated activities;
  • Support to design and monitor control systems to deal with violations of legal rules and internal policies and regularly assess the efficiency of control systems and recommend effective improvements;
  • Provide advisory and ensure compliance with the laws and regulatory requirements governing the business of the company s businesses in Malaysia including REIT and non REIT entities
  • Provide response and necessary information within the compliance requirements during internal audits and external audits/enquiries by the authorities/regulators;
  • Attend to and solve any legal risk and compliance issues that may arise from time to time;
  • Ensure that all legal risk and compliance obligations pertaining to the real estate investment trust and manager of the trust are met at all times;
  • Develop and update compliance plan and coordinate the compliance reports for purposes of ensuring that the compliance needs are met for the real estate investment trust and the manager of the trust;
  • Update and disseminate updates and information required to management in order for the real estate investment trust and manager of the trust to remain compliant with the laws and regulations;
  • Prepare quarterly reports and verify checklist with HODs for respective area of compliance
  • Lead employee training sessions on legal and compliance issues.
  • Perform any other duties which may be assigned/directed by the line of report from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in law business administration or relevant field;
  • Well versed in Companies Act Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements CCM and other relevant regulatory acts laws and guideline;
  • A qualified lawyer who possesses a minimum of 5 years experience in corporate environment and with exposure to compliance matters relating to Capital Market;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of corporate governance regulatory compliance and familiar with organizational best practices;
  • Exposure to hospitality commercial or retail business audits is an added advantage;
  • Familiar with local Malaysia relevant law. legal requirements and guidelines especially Company Law Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia etc.;
  • Good team player;
  • Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • An analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills;
  • Proficient in written & spoken English and Mandarin. Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage;
  • Be able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
  • High level of integrity and professionalism;
  • Resultoriented able to work independently selfmotivated organized and ability to manage deadlines;
  • Able to show a track record of being able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and resolve problems in a timely manner.
