2nd SHIFT (3:00pm-1:30am) Monday through Thursday

SUMMARY:
Tends extrusion machines by performing the following duties. May perform B/U Production machine operator duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adheres to all safety requirements.
Performs all tooling changeovers to product specifications.
Starts machine(s), water chiller, water trough, laser mic and cutter-puller.
Inspects and verifies conformance of product to specifications contained in product routing.
Ensures product quality.
Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine to within established parameters.
Replaces worn machine accessories (approved by Machine mechanic) such as cutting knives, rollers, heater bands and wires.
Fills machine hopper with material and trough with water.
Reports all potential safety issues to immediate Group Leader or Supervisor.
Works closely with Supervisor to reach daily production goals.
Instructs and oversees accuracy of packer personnel.
Maintains cleanliness of machines and general work areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
Ability to read and comprehend measuring equipment.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Environmental Conditions:
The majority of time would be spent in the plant areas (clean room and warehouse) at moderate temperatures with the presence of machinery and power lifts.

Physical Capabilities:
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit with repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting. Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
