Vacancy: Divisional Managing Director (Investment Banking)
Location: Illupeju Lagos
Directly reports to: Chief Executive Officer/Board
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deal Origination and Business Development
Actively pursue business development opportunities and originate new client engagements for the firm within selected industry/sector(s)
Develop prospect and referral networks and support the firm s efforts in developing and executing business development and marketing strategies
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and serve as a primary point of contact while providing financial advice tailored to the client s needs
Deal Execution
Oversee deal teams/units on a variety of transactions from initial opportunity development and client pitch to transaction execution and closing
Direct the execution of financial transactions which may include investment advisory mergers and acquisitions equity/ debt capital market transactions etc.
Coordinate obtaining of ratings by clients and prospects and other requirements for successful placement
Lead placement of instruments with institutional investors particularly PFAs and other investors
Manage daytoday aspects of client relationships transactions and investment banking teams and serve as primary client contact on engagements.
Oversee the structuring of complex financial transactions designing the terms and conditions of deals to optimize outcomes for clients.
Business Strategy
Provide advice on matters concerning changes in strategy target market definition preferred instruments and allied matters
Prepare the basis for decisions to be taken by the Board
Risk and Compliance
Establish satisfactory risk systems and control procedures for deal origination and execution which meet internationally recognised standards including systems for the management of market credit counterparty and operational risks valuation and measurement of returns
Ensure compliance with corporate governance expected in investment banking business systems and processes and regulatory requirements while complying with tax and market rules and regulations
Planning and Management
Hire a lean startup team for the function/business
Ensure the business operates in a cost effective manner and propose an annual budget for all activities relating to its management
Prepare and implement the strategic and annual plans and ensure that these are formally updated on a regular basis as well as whenever necessary to reflect significant changes
Provide financial reporting and accounting for the preparation of annual reports in accordance with applicable financial rules and the firm s accounting principles
People Management
Provide guidance set priorities and ensure that the investment team/unit s work aligns with the overall strategy.
Provide leadership professional development and mentoring
Reporting
Ensure the implementation of effective reporting and communication systems by establishing management reporting systems and processes within the company and with the Board
Minimum Required Job Specifications
Academic and Professional: Bachelor s degree in Finance Economics Business Management Mathematics Statistics or any similar field.
Masters/postgraduate and/or professional qualifications such as an MBA CFA MSc. in Finance ACA and ACCA
Experience:
Minimum of 18 years of experience in financial services out of which 10 years must have been in core investment banking
Extensive experience in the execution and origination of Equity Capital Markets Debt Capital Markets Mergers and Acquisition transactions.
Proven experience in identifying and dealing with complex issues in management areas.
Demonstrated experience with managing daytoday aspects of client relationships transactions and investment banking teams
Proven track record of fee generation through new business development efforts originating executing and closing investment banking engagements
Established relationships and contacts with private equity firms middle market businesses and referral sources
An appetite to work in a teamoriented environment with the ability to think creatively and act collaboratively playing a key role in driving the firm s longterm success.
Experiences in any of the BIG 4s are strongly encouraged.
