Job Title: Automotive Controller

Location: Kitchener Waterloo

Job Overview: The Automotive Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the automotive dealership or group. This includes financial reporting budgeting forecasting cost control inventory management compliance and strategic planning. The Controller plays a key role in ensuring the financial health and success of the dealership.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports including profit and loss statements balance sheets and cash flow statements.
    • Provide analysis and insights into financial performance to support decisionmaking processes.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Develop annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior management.
    • Monitor performance against budget and forecast identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  3. Cost Control:

    • Implement cost control measures to optimize expenses and improve profitability.
    • Monitor expenses closely and identify opportunities for cost reduction or efficiency improvements.
  4. Inventory Management:

    • Oversee inventory management processes including purchasing pricing and stocking.
    • Ensure inventory levels are optimized to meet demand while minimizing carrying costs.
  5. Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards tax regulations and internal policies and procedures.
    • Stay uptodate on changes in regulations that may affect the automotive industry.
  6. Financial Analysis:

    • Conduct financial analysis to support decisionmaking processes such as evaluating the financial viability of investments or initiatives.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data and analysis.
  7. Team Management:

    • Supervise and mentor finance team members including accountants bookkeepers and financial analysts.
    • Provide guidance training and support to ensure the team performs effectively.
  8. Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including banks auditors and vendors.
    • Negotiate terms and agreements to benefit the dealership or group.
  9. Strategic Planning:

    • Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic plans and initiatives to drive growth and profitability.
    • Provide financial expertise and insights to support strategic decisionmaking.
  10. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the finance function.
    • Implement best practices and technology solutions to streamline processes and improve effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Controller in the automotive industry 3 years
  • CPA is preferred
  • Strong understanding of automotive dealership operations and financial processes.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Detailoriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
