Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Location- Osage, Iowa
$180K-$235K

We are assisting a large Health Care Systems client in hiring a Certified Registered Nurse- Anesthetist in Osage, Iowa. This client operates an integrated system of hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities in your communities, providing accessible care, training the next generation of care givers and working to improve the overall well-being of their communities.

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is directly responsible for the administration of anesthesia to surgical patients while doing preoperative evaluations and selecting appropriate anesthetics. Assures proper administration of anesthetic while monitoring patient during the course of surgery and emergence and follows the patient
postoperatively.
Job Description Summary:
  • Conducts pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluates patients, making decisions on anesthesia fitness.
  • Requests and interprets consultations and diagnostic studies.
  • Obtains informed consent for anesthesia and establishes a personal rapport with the patient in order to dispel fear and anxiety.
  • Administers pre-anesthetic medications, intravascular fluids, and manages fluid therapy.
  • Develops anesthesia care plans based on patient evaluations, utilizing various anesthetic techniques.
  • Implements monitoring modalities and manages patient airways and pulmonary status.
  • Responds to emergencies, provides post-anesthesia follow-up care, and treats anesthesia-related problems.
  • Collaborates with physicians and healthcare providers, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Maintains and prepares anesthesia equipment, adheres to safety protocols, and documents patient information.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Manages scheduling, materials, and supplies, and contributes to policy development.
  • Conducts quality assessments, data collection, and compliance, participating in department peer review.
  • Represents anesthesia expertise in committee appointments and liaises with various departments.
  • Acts professionally, aligning with the organization's mission and values.
  • Demonstrates reliable attendance, supports departmental policies, and attends required meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a rural hospital setting preferred.
  • Special Skills and Aptitude:
1. ACLS, BLS, PALS
2. Demonstrates leadership qualities and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Must have basic computer skills

Education and License Requirements:
  • Graduate from an approved school of nursing and hold a current state licensure as a registered nurse.
  • Graduate from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council of Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
  • Have successfully completed the certification examination administered by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor.
  • Must show proof of current licensure as a Registered Nurse, and Advanced Practice Nurse, active practice as a CRNA, appropriate continuing education, verification of the absence of mental, physical, or other problems that could interfere with the practice of anesthesia.
  • Must comply with the state requirements regulating the advanced practice of nursing.
  • DEA Registration and CSA Iowa Controlled Substances Certificate.
  • Active Member of AANA preferred.
