Role Summary:
  • Responsible for the operation installation setup testing and maintenance of broadband services over an HFC network and other equipment associated with plant facilities and distribution systems. Ensures network meets company performance standards and is compliant with FCC requirements and standards.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment within the HFC distribution system including customer premises.
  • Performs demand maintenance by resolving trouble tickets for serviceaffecting events i.e. outages ingress and area problems.
  • Responds to status monitoring alarms. Identify troubleshoot and resolve any associated issues.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on distribution networks by conducting amp sweeps checking for forward and return signal transmission measuring signal leakage ingress and noise and evaluating power supply issues.
  • Performs node and endofline checks to prevent trouble calls.
  • Utilizes test equipment and other diagnostic tools such as notebook computers and digitized system maps to resolve network distribution problems.
  • Consults with other internal work teams to resolve plant issues.
  • Checks power supplies batteries and cabinets to ensure they are in good working order. Reports problems to authorized employees.
  • May Perform daily monitoring and documentation for CLI compliance per FCC requirements; repairs leakage to resolve problems.
  • May perform quality assurance field checks for new plant activation.
  • May identify and log tickets to repair clearance infractions and/or GO95 and GO 128 infractions as well as other safety issues.
  • Reads and interprets system prints including system design maps and digital drawings.
  • Work requires the ability to be oncall and work various shifts including nights and weekends.
Typical Training / Experience HS diploma GED or relevant work experience
  • 02 years of experience in area of responsibility Dept/Org Scope & Impact Entry level support role requiring basic skills
  • Can perform some of the basic tasks within the function

  • Demonstrates correct understanding of routine aspects of work
The CB Fulfillment Tech is responsible for configuring aggregate devices routers optical access NID and/or DWDM equipment that carries video data and/or telephony traffic. Utilizes various applications for implementation service test and acceptance (Remedy Procomm Plus Secure CRT WebZing Guardian.)
CB Installation
  • Under supervision installs disconnects upgrades and migrations at customer premise applicable to complex services for all CB products and services which generally involve custom design and not HFC.
  • Initially activates electronics by powering up the equipment via 48V or AC to ensure service.
  • Loads configuration from Engineering work package on customer premise equipment.
  • Performs customer CPE testing onsite.
  • Coordinates with provisioning to verify/finalize customer acceptance of service confirming service is working as expected to initiate billing.
  • Coordinates equipment pick up with boundary partners.
  • Creates updates and closes Remedy tickets and coordinates with change control as needed.
  • Plans daily route requisitions equipment and supplies and stocks vehicle.
  • Drives company vehicle between office warehouse and work site; maintains vehicle and other equipment per service requirement and safety guidelines; operates company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner and in accordance with all laws and company policies.
  • Complies with all safety procedures and policies.
  • Identifies and sorts equipment needed for work orders.
  • Configures CPE in warehouse prior to installation at customer premises.
  • Ensures appropriate iOS upgrade is applied.
  • Performs basic functional testing of equipment to eliminate out of box failures.
  • Follows labeling standards for labeling all equipment terminal ID (TID) circuit tags cabling required for the job.
  • Prestages equipment per work order in preparation for installation at the Fulfillment Stage Center.
  • Works with customer on integration of complex circuits such as BGP EPLAN EVPLAN etc.
  • Assists with initial turnup of CPE equipment.
  • Performs other duties specified by FE&O Leadership
  • Tests and verifies services in conjunction with the install team.
  • Performs ASBUILTS to Access Engineering Design and Construction
  • This position may be required to work shifts and/or provide 24/7 coverage to meet customer demands.
  • SHOUT Notification Level Tech Ops Engineering (AlcatelLucent SAM Cisco Prime Infrastructure RAMP) (Critical Level)
  • Remedy Queues: REG OPERATIONS CB SVC FULFILLMENT REG Engineering CB Access
Required
  • High School Diploma GED or related experience
  • 1 year experience in a related field (e.g. technical support installation and maintenance).
  • Working knowledge of IP Ethernet SONET DWDM Video and telephone technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with team throughout the organization
  • Valid local State Drivers License and driving record that meets client standards
Preferred
  • AA/AS degree or Technical Certification in related discipline desired (Technical Operations)
  • 1 year experience in troubleshooting layer I II & III networks
  • Prior commercial installation experience; technical support experience
