Position Summary:The Working Foreman handles supporting the VP of Construction with the revenue growth and profitability of the Construction Division. The Working Foreman will lead the crew of installers and direct in-house and subcontracted labor installation crews to ensure that construction schedules, quality standards, financial goals, and customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded. This position requires a hands on approach as well as a strategic and tactical planning, delegation and development of the team and work processes, management of client relationships and projects, knowing the competition and recruiting resources of all types.

Working Foreman Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates putting processes, and procedures in place to manage the cost, progress, and quality of work and takes timely remedial action to correct conditions, which could adversely impact performance
  • Coordinate contract administration, budgets, and company resources with the VP of Construction
  • Provides develop of detailed schedules, budgets, and installation sequences
  • Prepares and submits budget estimates, progress reports or cost tracking reports
  • Determines labor requirements for dispatching crews to construction sites
  • Assists with the selection and hiring of employees
  • Provides training and evaluation of employees to enhance their performance, development and work product
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction issues
  • Assists with preparing contracts or negotiating revisions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, subcontractors or consultants
  • Ensures compliance of OSHA, MSHA, Environmental Management, DOT and other Safety regulations
  • Develops and continuously improves field installation practices and procedures
  • Ensure all site resources (labor, machinery, materials, etc.) are effectively utilized and monitored in order to achieve timely completion of projects.
  • Assists with the development and implementation quality control programs and processes
  • Ensure all field reporting is accurate and on-time
  • Provide support in estimating and reviewing estimates
  • Participate in bid walk-throughs, pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and other on-site activities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Foreman Skills and Specifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate and instruct others with complex commercial or technical information.
  • Have training in or be able to obtain competent certification in operation of material handling mobile equipment, rigging/crane operation, and other critical operational functions.
  • Ability to proactively and independently manage multiple projects in various locations simultaneously.
  • Accomplished ability to read and comprehend blue prints and/or sketches.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate and inspect work for accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and possess the ability to inspire and motivate field crews.
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to travel to job sites during work as needed.

Working Foreman Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years experience in managing an installation crew
  • NCCER Card in Rigging and or Boilermaker Preferred
  • Have current or obtain MSHA training certificate within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Have current or obtain OSHA-30 hour training within the first year of employment.
  • Have current or obtain First Aid certification
  • Have or can obtain a valid Class A CDL driver s license issued within the United States.
  • Have or obtain a United States Passport.
  • Previous experience in bolted steel tanks or pre-fabricated steel structure.

Working Foreman Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of the Working Foreman, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work at heights and inside of tanks.
