Job Summary

About the role

Based at Pact Packagings Christchurch site and reporting to the Operations Manager the Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance function driving a worldclass approach to preventative predictive and reactive maintenance.

Youll play a critical role in reducing unplanned downtime improving equipment reliability and supporting safe highperforming manufacturing operations. As a key member of the site leadership team youll also contribute to leadership continuity and step into site leadership coverage when required.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Maximise equipment uptime and reliability through effective preventative predictive and reactive maintenance across site assets.
  • Respond handson to breakdowns diagnosing faults driving rootcause solutions and acting with urgency to minimise downtime.
  • Own and optimise the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) ensuring accurate asset registers maintenance plans work orders history and reporting to support datadriven decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Manage engineering purchasing and critical spares including supplier engagement cost control inventory optimisation and ensuring availability of essential parts and services.
  • Drive continuous improvement delivering measurable gains in safety quality cost and operational efficiency.
  • Coach and work alongside the team developing technicians and operators in faultfinding asset care and routine maintenance.
  • Oversee asset lifecycle and capital improvements including planning budgeting and delivery of upgrades and site projects.
  • Provide strong operational and site leadership supporting production performance managing risk and covering for the Site Operations Manager when required.
  • Champion health safety and environmental excellence ensuring full WHSE compliance and promoting a proactive zeroharm culture.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role youll have:

  • A qualification in Engineering with broad technical experience and extensive exposure at a senior level.
  • Proven technical maintenance experience within FMCG or complex manufacturing operations.
  • Experience leading a maintenance or engineering team with strong people leadership engagement and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing CMMS platforms maintenance planning and reliability reporting.
  • Experience overseeing engineering procurement contractor management and spare parts inventory control.
  • Practical handson knowledge of hydraulics pneumatics welding and safe slinging and lifting practices.
  • Experience applying Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to improve safety quality reliability and efficiency.
  • Desirable: Dualtrade electrical qualification and/or Advanced Fitting Turning and Machining trade certificate.
