As a Locum Neonatologist you will play a critical role in providing high-quality medical care to vulnerable patients in the neonatal unit. Your expertise will directly contribute to improving health outcomes for infants collaborating with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care. This role is essential for maintaining the continuity of care and supporting our mission of excellence in pediatric healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care for newborns including assessment and treatment of various conditions
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in rounds and case discussions providing insights and recommendations
- Document patient evaluations treatment plans and progress notes accurately
- Perform necessary procedures including intubation resuscitation and other neonatal interventions
- Educate and support families regarding their infants health and care plans
- Stay informed on the latest advancements in neonatology and pediatric medicine
- Adhere to established protocols and guidelines to ensure quality care
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
- Current board certification in Neonatology or eligibility for certification
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of Indiana
- Strong clinical skills in the assessment and management of neonatal conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families and team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high-stakes environment
- Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care
- Experience in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting is preferred
Schedule: 7x 24-hour shifts per month
Setting: 17-bed Level III NICU
Daily Volume: 10-12 patients
Annual Volume: 250-300 admissions
Delivery Volume: 1800 annually
Patient Population: Infants of all gestational ages
Duties: Provide full medical care for all neonates
EMR: Cerner
Must be board-certified or board-eligible
