A rapidly growing energy solutions company based in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Fixed Asset Accountant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong fixed asset experience in a capital-intensive environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Take full ownership of the fixed asset function managing the asset lifecycle from acquisition to disposal
Maintain and update the fixed asset register ensuring accurate recording of tangible and intangible assets
Reconcile fixed asset balances with the general ledger on a regular basis
Track and monitor capital expenditure in collaboration with project and operational teams
Capitalise completed projects in line with accounting standards
Support audit processes and provide required documentation and schedules
Perform impairment assessments and ensure appropriate accounting treatment
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies
Manage and track assets across multiple locations including maintaining accurate records

Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting and asset lifecycle management
Solid knowledge of IFRS particularly IAS 16 and IAS 36
Experience with asset tagging depreciation disposals and impairment reviews
Ability to accurately reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger
Strong reporting and documentation skills
Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel
Experience conducting physical asset counts and managing multi-location asset portfolios
Strong organisational time-management and multitasking abilities
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
High attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure

Qualification:
Certificate Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping
