Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced and compassionate Patient Care Associate (PCA) for a 13-week contract assignment at a leading acute care hospital in New York City.
The ideal candidate will possess strong direct patient care experience and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role supports registered nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare teams by assisting with patient care activities safety monitoring clinical procedures and daily unit operations while delivering high-quality patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient vital signs including blood pressure pulse respirations and temperature
- Monitor and record intake/output and report changes in patient condition
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing feeding toileting positioning and ambulation
- Perform EKGs specimen collection venipuncture and other clinical support procedures
- Assist with patient transport using wheelchairs and stretchers
- Maintain patient safety and provide close observation monitoring as needed
- Support infection prevention and isolation precaution protocols
- Perform purposeful rounding and communicate patient concerns to nursing staff
- Assist with meal setup tray delivery and feeding support
- Maintain clean safe and organized patient care environments
- Respond promptly to patient call systems and unit communications
- Assist with discharge preparation bedmaking supply management and specimen transport
- Collaborate effectively with nurses physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
- Deliver culturally sensitive and compassionate patient-focused care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Patient Care Associate (PCA) experience required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Current AHA BLS or HeartSaver Certification required
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare environments
- Strong organizational skills and sound clinical judgment
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity for patient care responsibilities
- Professional attitude with excellent teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred
- Experience with EKGs venipuncture and specimen collection preferred
- Experience working in specialty or inpatient hospital units preferred
