Academic position at the Department of Geology and Soil Science Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

The departments of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at Mendel University in Brno represent modern and dynamic workplaces with a long tradition and robust scientific background. At the Department of Geology and Soil Science we focus our activities on the applied approach to science in the fields of geology geomorphology pedology and archaeology extending into supportive disciplines such as biology biochemistry micromorphology hydrogeology and hydropedology. We interpret these disciplines from an environmental perspective with impacts in forestry landscape architecture arboriculture and nature conservation.

- Planning organizing and supervising all aspects of the departments activities
- Managing the budget and resources of the department
- Directing academic and research staff and department employees including their regular evaluation
- Pedagogical and research activities in the field
- Ensuring high-quality teaching and student supervision
- Supporting research activities and obtaining grants for the department
- Collaborating with other departments
What do we expect from you
- Higher education - at least Ph.D. in geology and pedology forest ecology forestry landscape architecture or a related field; docent or professor rank is an advantage
- Excellent active knowledge of Czech and English for teaching and publication purposes
- Verifiable research activities in the fields of geology and pedology forest ecology forestry landscape architecture and related fields Experience publishing in journals with IF and managing research projects at both domestic and international levels
- Ability to navigate labor law regulations and economic rules of management in higher education
- Organizational managerial and communication skills
- Capabilities for teamwork and independent work
- Personal and professional prerequisites for pedagogical activity
- Motivation to work on personal development and professional growth
