Job Summary
Duties & Responsibilities
Main Outputs and Responsibilities
Plant availability
Planned and preventative maintenance plan implemented
Achieve plant availability targets (98%)
Completion of tasks within standard times
Spares are available when required
Effective and reliable uptime
Identify wear and tear on equipment and plan ahead for spare parts to be on
site before the end-of-life approaches.
Utilize the Computer Aided Maintenance system (Shopware) to prevent
breakdowns and improve preventative maintenance checks strategies and
intervals.
Draw up preventative maintenance plan annually reviewed monthly
Plant breakdowns resolved
Accurate identification of problems and appropriate technical solution are
offered
Critical spares are kept in stock and stock levels are maintained
Proactive identification of engineering back-up facilities and resources
(e.g. contractors)
Turnaround time achieved
Maintain good relationships with OEM support structures and suppliers
Workshops Managed - Adequately trained staff and equipment in line with company
standards
Utilities management
Steam/coal ratio monitored - Better than 8 within acceptable environmental by-laws
Power factor monitored - Better than 098
Effluent control monitored Continuous operation of solid waste separator effluent
to comply with the parameters set out by the coastal discharge permit.
Water usage monitoring and continuous operations of the water recycling plants
Measuring of water used and implementing water saving initiatives
Electricity usage monitoring and improving on plant efficiency focussing on
refrigeration

Motivations and equipment comparisons and verification
Projects implementation managed design & plan quotes suppliers. Implementation

Comply to design objectives (fit for purpose and obtaining desired outputs and

Closing off and fixing any SIOs that is reported and logged on to MyOHS system.
Ensuring that machinery is always safe for operators to be used
Ensuring compliance to SANS code requirements.
Managing Contractors on site to conform to safety rules and standards as well as
having all the necessary paper work in place with regards to safety files.
Housekeeping practices monitored
100% compliance to FSSC Food Safety requirements
100% compliance to OHS Act and Regulations
Workshops and equipment in line with company standards
People Management
Employee performance managed

Set up score cards with tangible KPAs and KPIs in place for all Grade C

Qualifications Competencies and Experience
B-tech ND or BEng but GCC is compulsory
