Job Summary

The IT Manager is responsible for the end-to-end leadership coordination and operational management of Labournets IT function ensuring that technology infrastructure systems and processes reliably support the organisations national operations.

This role has primary accountability for:

  • IT infrastructure and system stability
  • Hardware software and asset governance
  • IT procurement and vendor management
  • IT administration controls and compliance
  • Strong people leadership and coordination across teams regions and service lines

The incumbent must act as a hands-on leader and trusted internal partner balancing technical expertise with disciplined management and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. IT Infrastructure & Operational Stability (LabourNet Environment:
  • Own and manage Labournets IT infrastructure across head office and national operational sites ensuring:
  • Network reliability (LAN/WAN/WiFi)
  • Server cloud and business system availability
  • Secure remote and field connectivity for consultants
  • Ensure high availability of core business systems that support Labournets services (HR payroll consultancy operations).
  • Lead disaster recovery backup and business continuity planning for IT.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate infrastructure and cyber risks.
  1. Hardware Software & IT Asset Governance
  • Maintain full accountability for Labournets IT asset lifecycle including:
  • Enduser devices (laptops desktops mobile devices)
  • Printers networking equipment and peripherals
  • Software systems and licenses
  • Ensure accurate asset registers warranty tracking refresh cycles and usage controls.
  • Define and enforce standardised hardware and software builds to ensure consistency cost control and supportability.
  • Oversee deployment replacement and decommissioning processes.

 

  1. IT Procurement & Vendor Management
  • Manage IT procurement within Labournets financial and governance frameworks including:
  • Supplier sourcing and evaluation
  • Quotation comparison and cost optimisation
  • Purchase order approval and tracking
  • Negotiate with service providers and vendors to ensure:
  • Value for money
  • Fitforpurpose solutions
  • SLA compliance
  • Manage external IT partners service providers and contractors.
  1. IT Administration Controls & Compliance:
  • Establish and maintain strong IT administrative and control processes including:
  • User access and identity management
  • Change incident and problem management
  • Documentation SOPs and system records
  • Ensure alignment with:
  • Labournet internal governance standards
  • POPIA and information security principles
  • Audit and risk requirements
  • Provide management with clear reporting on IT performance costs risks and incidents.
  1. People Management & CrossFunctional Coordination
  • Directly manage and develop the IT support and technical team.
  • Set clear performance expectations priorities and service levels.
  • Act as the central coordination point between:
  • IT and business units
  • Regional operations
  • External vendors
  • Build a service-oriented IT culture aligned to Labournets professional client-facing ethos.

Qualifications :

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or related discipline (required)
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g. A N Microsoft ITIL) advantageous

Experience:

  • 58 years progressive IT experience
  • Minimum 3 years in an IT management or supervisory role
  • Proven experience in:
  • Infrastructure and network environments
  • Hardware and software lifecycle management
  • IT procurement and vendor management
  • Leading and coordinating IT teams in a distributed environment
