Our client is looking for a hands-on detail-driven Retail Internal Auditor to improve business performance across a diverse group of retail operations. This role offers a fresh independent perspective to identify gaps improve accuracy and unlock cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Ability to work independently and without micro-management
Comfortable spending significant time in-store working across systems and departments
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with store teams and management
Exposure to a diverse range of retail business types advantageous
Must be willing to work in lower sector areas including township environments
Must be highly IT/systems-oriented
Valid drivers license and own transport
Key Performance Areas and experience with:
Receive and review up-to-date management accounts from Stores along with the annual budget
Develop a strong understanding of the stores IT systems
Conduct store visits followed by detailed reports to senior management
Perform data mining within systems to identify:
o Costing discrepancies and improvements
o Negative or low GP margins
o Incorrect promotional pricing
o Slow-moving or obsolete stock
o Correct stock loading from supplier invoices
Verify costings across departments
Review overheads expenses staff and any discrepancies including but not limited to:
o Casual wages and potential ghost employees
o Accuracy of hourly wage capture
o Electricity-saving opportunities
o Outstanding insurance claims
o Sick leave and annual leave records
Actively participate in stock-take reports with a focus on identifying and investigating variances
Ensure compliance with HSEQ certification where applicable
Assist with municipal compliance requirements (e.g. business licenses and accreditations)
Audit staff contracts to ensure they are current and compliant
Conduct any additional assessments that may positively impact business performance
Reports need to be accurate clear and highlight any shortcomings or risks identified
