Lurie Childrens Hospital is Now Offering a $10000 Sign- On Bonus for Transport Nurses!

TheTransfer Center Nursein the Center for Transport Medicineis responsible forcoordinating andfacilitatingthe safe transfer of patients (neonatal pediatric adolescent and adult) between facilities ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all involved. This position requires excellent communication skills critical thinking andproficiencywith information technology to effectively handle the complexities of patient care coordination whilemaintainingcompliance with Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages prioritizes triages andprocessespatient (neonatal pediatric adolescent and adult) transfers to and from Lurie Childrens.
  • Documentsclinical information (e.g. vital signs physical exam findings andlaboratory/imaging results) to ensureappropriate care transfer and disposition.
  • Recommendsappropriate medicalinterventions for the stabilization of critically ill patients to the referring facility based on transport team protocols including anticipation of potential patient deterioration and emergency situations.
  • Provides expert clinical guidance and care recommendations to referring facilities for all patients across the acuity spectrum tooptimizepatient outcomes and ensureappropriate levelof care
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation of intake call and treatment recommendations
  • Serves asa central pointof communication to ensuretimelycare while also providing support and care recommendations to referring hospitals.
  • Ensuresclearprofessional communication and exchange of clinical information between healthcare providers and services tofacilitateseamless patient transfers.
  • Collaborates with theHouse Supervisorto secure bed placement.
  • Conducts triage anddeterminestheappropriatetransportteam and mode of transportbased onthepatientsclinicalcondition and operationalconsiderations.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all stakeholders including patients families co-workers referringcenter and others to foster trust loyalty and a positive experience for everyone.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • BSN graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois active and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years pediatrics experience in high acuity inpatient setting (intensive care emergency department transport etc.).
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of neonatal/pediatric diagnoses andmanagement. Equivalentexperiencemay be considered.
  • Bed management admission& discharge anddispatchexperience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support(BLS)Certificationrequired. PediatricAdvancedLifeSupport (PALS)preferred andrequiredin the first year of hire.
  • Nursesare required toobtain an ANCC approved certificationwithinoneyear of hire.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership qualitieswith the ability to makeindependent decisions and takedecisive action in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking andproblem-solvingabilities
  • Strongproficiencyin Epic Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook.

Bachelors Degree: Nursing (Required)

Pay Range

$40.00-$66.00 Hourly

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
