Responsibilities
Must hold a MA DESE teaching license. Preference will be given to those certified in the content being taught. Facilitate a structured learning environment for daily instruction on MESH power standards.
Description of Program
This program is an academic focused program to support the summer slide (similar to past Step Up for incoming 7th & 8th). Students will engage with STEM based learning that is similar to Project Lead the Way along with having an opportunity to be part of a Summer Reading Book Club. This program is for current 6th and 7th grade students. This program must have a minimum of 20 students to run.
Site Location:
Kennedy Middle School or McDevitt Middle School
Compensation
Contractual rate of $40 per hour for up to a total of 110 hours for the summer (may be less if job sharing) for a total of up to $4400.
Terms of Employment
The summer program will be held from July 6th to August 6th. Program times for students will be Monday - Thursday. Work consists of 4 hours of daily teaching 30 minutes of supervision of students and 1 hour of prep daily for 19 days (no prep on the last day of summer school). There will be a 1 hour prep meeting with the site coordinator prior to summer school. Preparation during summer school may take place on site or from home. Job sharing is allowable to be determined by hiring managers. If you are interested in job sharing and have a partner educator you would like to do this with please indicate that in your application.
