Job Summary
Unit Description:As a nurse on the Progressive Care Unit you can care for a wide range of moderately complex patients between two unique units R3/R4. PCU provides advanced monitoring with sophisticated equipment intensive treatments and a team approach to promote wellness through assessment monitoring and education in critically ill patients. The Progressive Care nurse primarily treats patients with the following diagnosis: compromised airway requiring intensive respiratory therapy controlled infusion of antiarrhythmic or vasoactive IV drug therapy acute poisoning suicide attempts multisystem failure neurologic abnormalities metabolic crisis multiple trauma chest pain myocardial infarction heart failure hemodynamic instability invasive hemodynamic monitoring post-anesthesia care mechanical ventilation cardiac monitoring arrhythmia analysis thrombolytic therapy GI bleeding internal/external pacing electrical cardioversion acute dialysis (peritoneal hemodialysis) and post-cardiac arrest. PCU nurses are encouraged and supported for professional growth with committee commitments education seminars certifications advancement in degree LEAD preceptor course and within-department education.
