Summary: Under general direction incumbent(s) oversees the implementation of the school discipline truancy and tardiness addition incumbent(s) determines appropriate level of disciplinary action for students investigates referrals documents and maintains proper paperwork and facilitates processes to provide interventions for teachers and parents.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the implementation of the school-wide discipline truancy and tardiness programs by working adminstration and the School Discipline Committee school staff and the District office. Trains and updates school staff parents and students on discipline truancy and tardiness procedures.
- Determines appropriate level of disciplinary action for students identified as improperly behaving. Investigates discipline referrals. Completes required paperwork. Implements disciplinary action according to District and school policies and procedures. Communicates with staff parents and students regrading discipline truancy and tardiness
- Develops and delivers school-wide programs that promote positive self-esteem decision-making skills conflict resolution and peer mediation.
- Facilitates processes to provide interventions for teachers and parents prior to Team Approach Process (TAP) referrals including monitoring functional behavioral assessments and student behavior intervention plans. Attends and assists school personnel in facilitating TAP meetings.
- Assists the Principal in conducting threat assessments using District guidelines.
- Reports student conduct to applicable law enforcement agencies. Collaborates with resource officers and local law enforcement agencies regarding prevention plans.
- Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to Child Protectiive Services and other applicable law enforcement agencies.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- Bachelors Degree in Education;
- Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate-grade designations apply;
- Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Four years of teaching experience;
- Experience in a public education system;
- Two years of student services intervention or related experience.
