Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership coordination and oversight for the districts comprehensive school health services program. Ensure that nursing services health programs and related policies support student well-being safety and academic success in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Education / Certification:
- Bachelors degree required
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas
- Current CPR certification
- Hearing and Vision screening certified
- National Certification of school nursing preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Knowledge of school health laws policies and best practices
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret and apply health regulations and nursing standards
- Skill in training mentoring and evaluating nursing staff
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators staff and community partners
Experience / Other Requirements:
- Minimum five years of school nursing
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop implement and evaluate the districts health services program to meet identified student and community needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal state and local health regulations including communicable disease control immunization compliance state mandated screenings and emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Collaborate with district and campus administrators to support health-related policies and procedures.
- Recruit train supervise and evaluate school nurses.
- Provide guidance for health services staff and serve as a resource for clinical decision making and nursing best practices.
- Represent the district in community health collaborations and professional organizations.
- Coordinate and lead the District School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate job performance of district nursing staff and other assigned health personnel.
