Job Summary

SYSTRA Canada is part of the SYSTRA group an international consulting and engineering group a world leader in the design of transport infrastructures. SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure privatization of a railway.

Context

As part of the development of the Alto High-Speed Rail project SYSTRA is seeking a Physical Environment Studies Lead to oversee the coordination technical direction and integration of the physical environment studies required for the preparation of environmental and social impact assessments. The successful candidate will serve as the primary reference for all physical environment components of the project and ensure the consistency of technical inputs produced across the various disciplines involved.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Technical leadership of physical studies: You lead the projects physical environment studies define study requirements and coordinate interfaces across disciplines.
  • Planning coordination and integration: You plan and coordinate studies field campaigns analyses and technical reporting while ensuring timely integration into design impact assessments and permitting.
  • Engineering interface and impact assessment: You work closely with design and engineering teams to integrate physical constraints assess key issues and impacts and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Deliverable quality and interdisciplinary coordination: You review technical contributions ensure consistency and compliance of deliverables and collaborate with other disciplines to provide an integrated view of site constraints.
  • Technical regulatory and resource management support: You support regulatory responses oversee specialized consultants monitor budgets and contribute to risk management and resource optimization.

Profile/Skills

Education: University degree in Civil Engineering Geological Engineering Geosciences Environmental Sciences or a related discipline relevant to the physical environment. A masters degree is considered an asset.

Years of experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive hands-on experience in environmental consulting.

Technical skills:

  • Excellent understanding of physical environment components and their interactions with transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong writing analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable municipal provincial and federal environmental standards regulations and guidelines related to environmental permitting at various project development stages as well as environmental and social impact assessments in Quebec Ontario and at the federal level as applicable.

Personal qualities:

  • Excellent multidisciplinary coordination and management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership autonomy and professional judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues.
