Position Overview AZWIFA Financial Services is seeking a highly experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations ensure compliance with state financial regulations and manage a team of accounting professionals. This role requires strong leadership technical expertise with state financial systems and the ability to manage complex financial processes and reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities Primary Duties - Review and approve Accountant IV transactions in AZ360 and ensure timely processing
- Review ACH transactions and ensure accuracy
- Reconcile AZ360 funds with cash flow worksheets monthly within required timelines
- Download and distribute monthly ASAP/AZ360 reports to the Controller
- Review General Fund status (BQ90LV1)
- Review and approve LGTS reconciliations from accounting staff
- Manage drawdowns coding and payments for ADEQ and payroll
- Perform and oversee payroll reconciliation; ensure accurate coding by staff
- Review payroll processing and reporting
- Manage travel claims and reimbursement processes
- Review and approve monthly investment splits
- Lead budget preparation activities
- Provide funding codes for requisitions and transactions
- Maintain and structure the Chart of Accounts
- Supervise train and mentor accounting team members
- Support system implementations and subsystem inquiries
- Assist in developing long-term water augmentation accounting procedures
- Prepare MBE/WBE reports
- Support internal and external audits
Backup / Additional Duties - Review bond proceeds and related transactions
- Prepare cash and loan reports
- Manage disbursement claims for grant funds and augmentation programs
- Process fund transfers and adjustments in AZ360
- Track interest income from the State Treasurers Office
- Reconcile investment splits
- Prepare documentation for arbitration and ensure PO processing
- Conduct internal audits and implement corrective actions
- Perform period expense reporting (BQ38LV3)
- Support Federal Financial Reporting (FFRs)
Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- Proven management/supervisory experience
- Strong experience with:
- AZ360 FIN & HRM
- APP eCivis DotStaff
- Experience with:
- BQ38LV3 (period expense reporting)
- Federal Financial Reporting (FFRs)
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting practices
- Ability to manage multiple financial processes and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications - Experience working with state government financial systems
- Background in grants and federal funding accounting
- Experience with water-related or infrastructure projects
Additional Requirements - Local candidates only (must reside in or near Phoenix AZ)
