Position Summary
The Senior Manager Lab Operations is responsible for leading day-to-day technical and operational functions within the laboratory ensuring smooth execution of processes regulatory compliance and teammate development. This role provides hands-on leadership for laboratory teams and serves as a bridge between frontline operations and senior leadership. The position reports to the Director Laboratory Operations.
Primary Functions
- Oversight of assigned laboratory lanes to ensure they meet performance quality and financial targets
- Monitor data and key performance metrics to make informed decisions about staffing resources and workflow
- Support standardization of processes policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations
- Partner with leadership on long-term planning for service line growth and operational improvements
- Lead and engage laboratory supervisors and frontline teams to foster a culture of accountability belonging and high performance
- Mentor emerging leaders focusing on professional growth and succession planning
- Drive cross-shift and cross-department communication to support operational excellence
- Ensure laboratory testing is performed accurately documented properly and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs to maintain the highest standards of laboratory services
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers ensuring service excellence
- Resolve operational issues and client concerns in a timely professional manner
- Support strategic initiatives projects and continuous improvement activities as needed
Must-Haves
- Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or related sciences
- Minimum of 5 years of laboratory leadership experience in a high-volume high-complexity testing environment with a proven track record of leading teams driving process improvements and managing operational performance
- Strong knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards (CAP CLIA federal and state)
- Medical Technologist registry (ASCP NCA AAB or equivalent)
- Florida Supervisor license
- Proficiency in MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in business administration or relevant sciences
