Job Summary

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To assess analyze and interpret intellectual and educational functioning of students referred for Special Education assessment and of students requiring three-year re-evaluations; to promote a positive working relationship among and between staff and the schools as academic and functional based recommendations are presented to campus teams who will implement student-learning framework by establishing a climate conducive to open communication and productive work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational/Certification:

Masters Degree required

Educational Diagnosticians Certificate required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Communicate effectively (verbal and written); utilize effective interpersonal skills; interpret data federal and state laws and policies; demonstrate knowledge of testing instruments to use with students who may qualify as disabled according to federal mandates; able to administer and inerpret assessments in English/Spanish preferred

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience as a special education teacher required

Days: 197

Daily Rate pay range:

Minimum: $ 332.86

Maximum: $ 464.40

Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Interprets evaluation results to school personnel parents and outside agencies as appropriate.
  2. Must be able to conduct full and individual evaluations using most current evaluation tools and interpretation reports.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of district RTI process analyze/review student folders for possible special education evaluation and provide recommendations.
  4. Includes academic and functional based recommendations in evaluation reports.
  5. Complies with local and deferral mandated timelines for admission review and dismissal meetings as well as evaluations.
  6. Assists in the dissemination of local state and federal regulations with regards to special education guidelines.
  7. Assist in providing training/support for online ARD managing program.
  8. Displays knowledge of procedural safeguards and ARD guide.
  9. Communicates with staff students and parents in a professional and sensitive manner.
  10. Maintains and submits complete PEIMS data according to district timeline.
  11. Demonstrates personal and professional growth by attending in-services meetings workshops and conferences.
  12. Disseminates ideas and information to other professionals and the community through written materials by conducting in-services and through contact with outside agencies.
  13. Effectively participates in ARDs parent conferences transition meetings and other related meetings on campus.
  14. Assists school personnel and parents in planning and implementing the Individual Education Plan.
  15. Serves as a liaison for the special education department by interpreting recommending and organizing services needed for the student.
  16. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  17. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
