Primary Purpose:
Supports the mission vision and strategic goals of the CISD Athletic Department. Works collaboratively with district staff and outside personnel to provide educational opportunities for students participating in our programs.
Education / Certification:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Member of THSCA and or TGCA
Program Management:
- Oversee and Support K-12 Physical Education Teachers and Classes.
- Oversee K-12 Physical Education Professional Development
- Coordinate Off-Campus Physical Education District Wide
- Facility Rental Liaison
- Coordinate Elementary Intramurals
- Become involved and assist all coaches on the assigned campus and assigned feeder schools in their respective sports and evaluate coaches and programs.
- Visit campuses to observe pre-athletics and athletics classes practices and use of CISD athletic facilities.
- Visit campuses to evaluate facilities.
- Attend games to observe coaches and student-athletes.
- Report any CISD athletic personnel and/or facility issues to the district athletic director.
- Create organize and communicate middle school schedules to each member school.
- Organize officials for all middle school sports.
- Verify middle school district cross country and golf meets with courses and organize billing of each member school.
- Communicate GVAC concerns to the GVAC chair; currently CISD athletic director.
- Work with other MS coordinators to develop a list of facilities improvements and needs and report to district athletic director
Policy Reports and Law:
- Represent the districts athletic program in a positive way to the public other school districts the UIL and other related organizations.
- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and the local board policy.
- Develop the UIL Eligibility Calendar for Comal ISD.
Other Duties Responsible for:
- Work with district athletic director and district athletic senior associate to order and organize new middle schools athletic programs.
- Work with our high school campuses on the PAPF/ DEC/UIL Portal process.
- Coordinate and support middle and high school cheer coaches with judges and travel for UIL competitions.
- Attend multiple sporting events for support and supervision.
- Mediate and perform administrative procedures for concerns or issues in all assigned sports dealing with coaches parents or athletes.
- Have a working knowledge of UIL rules and guidelines and implement them in all sports assigned.
- Work with district athletic director and M&O administration on proper planning for new middle schools athletic facility needs (locker rooms gyms fields etc.) if requested.
