Job Summary
Summary:
Research shows that one-on-one Coaching programs hold real promise for improving teachers instructional practice and in turn students academic achievement. (Kraft Blazar & Hogan 2018). This Working Group is intended to convene a mixed group of stakeholders to examine Instructional Coaching structures practices and supervision in the Somerville Public Schools.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this group include:
- Researching Coaching models and recommending a unified model of expectations and practices related to coaching from PK through High School.
- Examining supervision feedback and professional growth practices related to Coaches.
- Identifying data sets / points in order to measure the impact and effectiveness of Coaching in SPS.

Commitment:
The following is an approximate estimation of the time commitment for this group. The times may change with the needs of the group:
- Approximate Total Hours: 15-20
- May 2026 - June 2026
- Weekly sessions: 1st session on 5/14/26 8:30-12:30. Subsequent sessions TBD
Compensation:
Educators (non-administrators) will be compensatedin accordance with their relative Collective Bargaining Agreement forwork completed outside of the work day.
