Full Time- Day Shift
In collaboration with the management teams from Baystate Cancer Services this position is responsible for nursing practice strategic planning program development regulatory compliance fiscal accountability and performance improvement for all cancer-related nursing services at all outpatient clinic facilities under the Baystate Regional Cancer Program. The primary responsibility of the BRCP Nursing Manager is to manage all aspects of nursing care within the DAmour Center for Cancer Care (DCCC).This is inclusive of but not limited to ambulatory adult hematology/oncology infusion and practice nurse navigation radiation oncology the procedure and post-anesthesia recovery units and the outpatient clinics at BMC. The BRCP Nurse Manager also collaborates with the BFMC Oncology Program Manager to ensure consistency across sites. As it relates to cancer services operations collaboration with gynecological and surgical oncology nursing leadership as it relates to the presence in the Cancer Program is also included.
- The position leads the development and delivery of high-quality patient care and efficient customer-friendly services. This role is inclusive of nursing practice performance and quality improvement and has oversight of all nursing services within the cancer program.
- The BRCP Nurse Manager identifies and implements strategies that enhance financial viability i.e. cost containment actions and/or methods to increase nursing efficiency.
- Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures that support programmatic and clinical programs and enhance nursing practice. With the clinical supervisors directs and supervises nursing personnel including evaluations scheduling orientation and training.
- Participates in documenting the adherence of nursing personnel education requirements such as the Oncology Nursing Society chemo biotherapy course and completion of the ONS certification within specified timeframes. Is able to identify additional staff education needs and with the nursing education team develops coordinates implements and evaluates educational activities.
- Acts as a consultant to colleagues and health care team members in cancer services serving as a resource to nursing staff. Demonstrates ability to function as a clinical preceptor. Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and actively seeks opportunities to broaden clinical expertise.
- Responsible to understand differences in policies benefits and union contract issues between locations. Demonstrates ability to develop performance/quality improvement measures
- Responsible for translating cancer services goals and objectives to day-to-day operational activities within nursing operations. Able to effectively manage all aspects of outpatient cancer-related nursing practice as well as anesthesia-based procedures within the DAmour Center for Cancer Care and post-anesthesia recovery unit.
- Effectively hires directs monitors and evaluates staff performance. Participates in the planning process and facilitates implementation of plans.
- Is well versed in ICD-910 - CPT and HCPCS Level II coding for APCs APGs and other reimbursement methodologies related to charging for nursing services.
- Works with the Business Operations Manager and others to develop and monitor operating and capital budgets.
- Works with the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services Manager and the Manager of Physician Clinics Research and Quality to ensure appropriate communication between nursing technical medical assistant and practice assistant staff to ensure optimum patient care coordination.
- Responsible for translating cancer services goals and objectives to day-to-day operational activities within nursing operations. Identifies opportunities for ongoing process improvement for the purpose of cost containment and increased efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
- Bachelors In Nursing required
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience
- Minimum 3 years of Management Experience
- Oncology Management experience preferred
