Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Children and Families the Youth Development Coordinator will provide entry-level support to a team working with First Nations youth. The Youth Development Coordinator will also assist with the implementation of various workshops and events throughout the summer. This position is designed for a post-secondary student who will be returning to school in September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Assist staff in establishing rapport with youth and families through regular contact while maintaining healthy boundaries.
Work with staff to support youth in completing the intake process.
Ensure that youth have support with short- and long-term planning.
Help facilitate workshops designed to meet the needs of participants and create opportunities for healing cultural awareness life skills and employment skills development.
Assist the team in identifying and accessing resources related to housing education employment training treatment etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
Must be a post-secondary student returning to school in September 2026.
Knowledge of First Nations issues related to the child welfare justice education and health care systems.
Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.- Proficient use of Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Adherence to office practices procedures and confidentiality.
Able to work flexible hours and travel upon request.
Valid Class 5F Drivers License and reliable vehicle considered an asset.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
