About the role
The Business Planning & Risk Lead drives the development and delivery of the Finance directorates business and operational plans ensuring alignment with departmental priorities.
You will work closely with Finance Executives to shape planning oversee performance monitoring and reporting and identify opportunities to improve outcomes. The role also leads key practices across audit risk business continuity and people initiatives contributing to strategic projects and organisational.

About you
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A strategic proactive approach with demonstrated experience in business planning performance reporting and risk management
- The ability to translate strategic priorities into clear actionable plans and deliver results in a dynamic environment
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills including the ability to work effectively with senior executives
- Sound judgement professionalism and discretion in managing sensitive and complex matters
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear timely and insightful advice
- A collaborative mindset with a track record of working across teams to embed best practice in planning audit risk and people initiatives
- Proven capability to manage competing priorities drive continuous improvement and support organisational change
Key knowledge and experience
- Experience leading the development of government business and/or operational plans and working with senior executives
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge skills and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
