Your Role

Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victorias largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

An opportunity is available for a committed and dedicated Case Manager Foster Care to join our team in Swan Hill.

This role sits within MDAS Kinship Care Service supporting Aboriginal children and families through culturally safe community led care arrangements. The program works across Family Reunification First Supports and Case Contracting with a strong focus on strengthening family networks and improving outcomes for children in care.

In this role you will support the delivery of Kinship and Foster Care services by working closely with children carers families and key stakeholders including Child Protection. The role focuses on building strong sustainable kindship placements that prioritises each childs safety stability and development.

This is a permanent part time position working 30.4 hours (4 days per week) and is based at our Swan Hill office location.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in the case management of complex children youth and families and knowledge of the Residential Care Out of Home Care system and Child Protection statutory requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for client needs influencing decisions in the clients best interests.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate consult liaise and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal at all levels to achieve program objectives and goals policies legislation program and practices in relation to the program.

  • Strong ability for problem solving from operational knowledge and experience to fulfill requirements regarding case records statistics and other data gathering requirements including the use and maintenance of records on CRIS and CRISSP.

  • Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services

Qualification/s:
Minimum relevant Certificate IV of Community Services.

Other Screening Requirements:
A current Drivers Licence that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
