HII Platform Modernization (PM) trades teams provide expert solutions on US Naval Vessel alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The selected entry level Coatings and Preservation Assistant candidate will primarily support PM operations at the Woodlake Fabrication Shop in Chesapeake VA with possible periodic local travel to shipyards and military bases to assist PM Trade Teams in fleet modernization. Limited outoftown travel up to 25% may be required based on contract needs and trade skill requirements. Occasional weekend or evening work may be necessary to meet highvolume or shortnotice deadlines.
*This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Display levels of quality integrity safety respect engagement responsibility and performance consistent with company values.
- Gain valuable trades and life experience as you learn and focus your skills through the direction of senior technical tradespersons.
- The selected candidate will support the team under direction assisting with the performance of duties primarily related to material coatings and preservation.
- Perform specific or general duties of lesser skill such as supplying or holding materials and tools; cleaning working area machine and equipment; and performing diverse tasks as directed.
- Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties supporting the fabrication installation maintenance and repair of a wide array of systems and equipment.
- Apply job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks that vary based on job contract customer requirements specifications etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid drivers license and must provide own hand tools.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior Shipboard experience.
- Previous work related to technical trades.
- Candidates who hold a current or active DoD confidential clearance or higher.
- Candidate with related technical training degrees and/or certifications.

The listed salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the roles location expectations and responsibilities.
