The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals such as cosmetologists veterinarians condominiums hotels and restaurants. Our mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly and we strive to meet this goal in our day-to-day operations.

The Work You Will Do:

This position is located within the Bureau of Compliance of the Division of Condominiums Timeshares and Mobile Homes. This in-office position is a part of the investigative team and is responsible for supervising investigators who analyze and investigate incoming complaints for alleged violations of Florida Statutes and Board Rules regulated by the Department.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for all required tasks related to the supervision of their employees. These tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures the enforcement policies and procedures manual is used for carrying out investigative functions.
  • Conducts statistical data analysis to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Develops and conducts intensive training programs for investigators.
  • Tracks all current investigations; formulates recommendations to ensure that investigations are managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed. Receives and reviews investigative reports to determine affected statutes and rules and to make recommendations on courses of action.
  • Evaluates evidence of investigations and prepares reports of findings. Assists attorneys in the prosecution of cases.
  • Attends hearings and gives testimony concerning investigations.
  • Plans organizes and delegates work assignments; evaluates the effectiveness of such assignments on an ongoing basis to improve the delivery of services to the public.
  • Plans workloads workflows deadlines work objectives and time utilization with investigators.
  • Reviews and assigns cases.
  • Coordinates all investigative activities within the assigned area.
  • Directs the work of employees to ensure maximum use of time and resources.
  • Develops performance standards and conducts performance appraisals in accordance with personnel guidelines; supervises training continuing education attendance and leave etc.
  • Evaluates employees through established evaluation criteria and ensures that pre-established criteria are met.
  • Develops methods for performing an effective and efficient job.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with employees both individually and in staff meetings. Advises employees of policy and procedural changes.
  • Provides management with statistics; updates management on problems and provides methods for solutions.
  • Prepares statistical reports for use state-wide department-wide and division-wide.
  • Attends management meetings; makes decisions based on applicable rules regulations policies and procedures.
  • Performs related work and special assignments as required.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Florida Laws and Administrative Rules related to Condominiums Time-Share Mobile Homes and Cooperatives.
  • Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and auditing principles.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial documents.
  • Ability to manage and direct subordinates in the investigation of complaints based on financial issues.
  • Skilled in managing databases and case tracking.
  • Skilled in identifying critical financial issues and conducting financial examinations.
  • Skilled in identifying critical issues with regard to complaints.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Four (4) years of investigation experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR
  • Four (4) years of regulatory experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Preferred:

  • A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university at least two (2) years of investigation experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR
  • A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university at least four (4) years of regulatory experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR
  • An associates degree from an accredited college or university plus four years of investigation experience or six years of regulatory experience and two years of supervisory experience.
