Overview

Academic Alliance in Dermatology is hiring a Medical Assistant for our Sarasota clinic. This position supports both medical and cosmetic dermatology services and works closely with the provider throughout the day to keep clinic flow running smoothly.

This is a hands-on role where youll be involved in patient care procedures and clinical coordination. Candidates with experience in any medical setting are encouraged to apply. Dermatology experience is a plus but not required.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Room patients take vitals and document medical history using EMA (EMR system)
• Assist the provider during procedures such as biopsies excisions and other in-office treatments
• Prepare exam rooms and procedure trays based on daily schedules and provider preference
• Apply numbing agents and support patients through procedures
• Label and process specimens for lab and pathology ensuring accuracy and proper routing
• Help maintain clinic flow by keeping patients moving through their visits efficiently
• Scribe and assist with documentation during patient visits as needed
• Handle patient communication including calls messages and follow-ups
• Monitor inventory restock supplies and remove expired materials
• Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
• Follow up with patients regarding results and next steps per provider direction

What Were Looking For

• Experience working as a Medical Assistant CNA PCT or similar clinical role
• Comfortable in a patient-facing environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized throughout the day
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
• Experience using an EMR system
• Ability to assist with injections or minor procedures
• Strong communication skills and professionalism with patients

Preferred (Not Required)

• Dermatology experience
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant healthcare training
• Pre-med or pre-PA background
• Bilingual in English & Spanish

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program or a bachelors degree in a pre-med or pre-PA track is preferred
• Previous hands-on clinical experience (1-2 years preferred) in a Medical Assistant (CMA) CNA or similar patient care role
• Dermatology experience is beneficial but not required

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Standing and moving throughout the clinic for most of the day
• Frequent bending reaching and handling clinical supplies
• Exposure to a medical environment including sharps and biohazard materials
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed
