Overview
Director of Anti-infective Pharmacology will lead and manage a team responsible for designing executing and interpreting preclinical pharmacology studies to support the development of novel anti-infective therapeutics. This individual will play a key role in advancing our pipeline of anti-infective compounds by providing scientific expertise strategic guidance and leadership to drive programs from early discovery through preclinical development. This position is an office/lab -based position located in San Diego CA.
Detailed Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Team Management:
o Lead and mentor a team of scientists to execute preclinical pharmacology and toxicology studies.
o Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team to achieve program goals.
o Provide scientific and strategic guidance to team members and contribute to their professional development.
- Preclinical and Clinical Pharmacology:
o Develop and implement strategies to support the advancement of anti-infective drug candidates in the preclinical and clinical setting.
o Design and oversee in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to characterize the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of lead compounds and development candidates.
o Understanding of and previous experience conducting and evaluating population pharmacokinetic analyses
o Evaluate emerging scientific trends and technologies to enhance team capabilities.
- Experimental Design and Execution:
o Design and oversee the execution of preclinical studies to evaluate the pharmacokinetics efficacy and safety of anti-infective compounds.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medicinal chemistry biology and translational research to integrate pharmacology data into drug discovery and development efforts.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation:
o Analyze and interpret preclinical and clinical pharmacology data to guide decision-making and optimize compound selection and progression.
o Generate high-quality scientific reports presentations and publications to communicate study findings internally and externally.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Collaborate closely with other functional areas including medicinal chemistry pharmacokinetics toxicology and clinical development to drive project progression and decision-making.
o Contribute to cross-functional project teams and provide pharmacology expertise to support overall drug development strategies.
- External Engagement:
o Represent the company externally by presenting at scientific conferences participating in advisory boards and fostering collaborations with academic and industry partners.
o Stay abreast of advancements in anti-infective pharmacology and contribute to scientific discourse through publications and presentations.
Qualifications
- The position requires a Pharm.D. Ph.D. or equivalent degree in pharmacology microbiology or related field with a minimum of 10 years of industry or government experience in anti-infective drug discovery and development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing scientific teams and leading discovery and development programs.
- Expertise in designing and executing in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate anti-infective compounds.
- Strong understanding of infectious diseases pharmacokinetics pharmacodynamics and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with a variety of pharmacology techniques and assays including microbiological assays animal models of infection PK-PD and population pharmacokinetic analyses.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of productivity innovation and scientific contributions demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative and dynamic work environment.
Additional Information
The base salary range for this full-time position is $210000 - $250000. Individual pay is determined by several factors which include but are not limited to: job-related skills experience and relevant education or training. The range does not include the comprehensive benefits bonus long-term incentive applicable allowances or any additional compensation that may be associated with this role.
